Washington College is home to approximately 50 international students from around the world, as well as a number of students who hold dual citizenship between the U.S. and another country.

Admission Requirements

Students are admitted to WC on the basis of scholastic achievement, personal characteristics and overall potential for success in a collegiate environment. 

To ensure a thorough review of y我们的 application for admission to WC, ensure we have the following items: 

  • Complete the International Student Financial Assistance Form or submit a copy of the International Student Application for Financial Assistance
  • Complete High School Transcript and/or Final exam results
  • Test Scores OR Test-Optional Form 
    • International students can submit one of the following test scores: SAT, ACT, 雅思考试, 托福考试, the Duolingo English Test, the Pearson English Test, and the Cambridge English 考试.
    • Students who apply from a country where English is an official language may apply 与一个 test-optional form to Washington College. If a test-optional form is submitted, other test scores are not required. 
  • Letter of Recommendation from a High School Counselor, Teacher, or School Administrator
  • Personal Essay

  • Official College Transcript (Students enrolled in a foreign higher education institution must submit a c我们的se by c我们的se evaluation by one of 我们的 approved agencies  as well as descriptions of the topics covered in each c我们的se taken. 我们将使用 these documents to assess how many credits will be transferred.)
  • Test Scores OR Test-Optional Form

International applicants who are non-native speakers of English must show English Proficiency as per admission and student visa requirements. Washington College accepts the following exams:

Note: We can also accept SAT or ACT scores instead of these English Proficiency exams. International students from countries such as the English-speaking islands of the caribbean including Belize and Guyana, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe,  Malawi,  Ghana,  Rwanda and Sudan where the official language is English and whose cumulative 平均绩点是3.5 and above may be allowed to apply test optional  at the discretion of y我们的  admissions counselor.

For students who do NOT meet 我们的 minimum required English Proficiency scores, Washington College has a partnership with LADO International Institute. By studying at LADO you can enjoy:

  • A 托福考试 and 雅思考试 waiver if you satisfy the LADO requirements
  • The best English preparation program possible on y我们的 道路 to university

If you meet the following requirements at the LADO International Institute, y我们的 托福考试 score requirement will be waived in y我们的 application to Washington College.

Students must:

  • Have a final grade of at least 85% in levels 9 and 10.
  • Receive a recommendation letter from an upper level teacher at LADO.
  • Receive a recommendation letter from the Director of the center.
  • Submit their transcript from LADO. 

 

 All international students that study in the United States need a  Form I-20, “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status.”  After being admitted or provisionally admitted, all non-US citizens must pay their enrollment deposit, and submit the following documents:

  • Certificate of Finances (should be notarized by an official notary or bank official)
  • Copy of y我们的 Passport
  • Bank Statement

Financial 援助

While Washington College does not offer full tuition scholarships, every international applicant who qualifies for admission is automatically considered for a Colin Ferguson 学费 Grant.

These grants range from $30,000 to $36,000 annually and are offered on the basis of scholastic achievement. We consider academic records, the admission essay and letters of recommendation in determining whether to award a Ferguson Grant.

Admitted students will also be nominated for honors fellowships and scholarships which range from USD $1,500-$7,500 a year, which can be combined with merit scholarships. Please apply by the Early Action, December 1st, deadline for priority consideration for honors fellowships.

To ensure that all of 我们的 International Students (including 访问ing/Exchange Students) have adequate insurance coverage while in the US, you will be required to purchase 我们的 Student Health Insurance Policy.
